Australia's new car calendar for the back half of 2026 is unusually stacked, a hypercar-adjacent Ferrari, Porsche's first fully electric Cayenne, a seven-seat PHEV from BYD and a reworked Toyota RAV4 are all either just arriving or about to. Here's what's actually worth paying attention to.

## Ferrari Amalfi, the Roma's sleeker replacement

The [Ferrari Amalfi](https://www.drive.com.au/showrooms/ferrari/amalfi/?utm%5Fsource=blankidentity) lands in Australia in right-hand-drive form in the second half of 2026, priced from above A$475,000\. It keeps the Roma's layout, a 3.9-litre twin-turbo V8 making 471kW and 760Nm through an 8-speed dual-clutch, but gets there 0.1 seconds faster, 3.3 seconds to 100km/h, with a 320km/h top speed. Ferrari has deliberately skipped electrification here to keep the kerb weight down at 1,470kg dry, leaning on sharper, more sculptural styling instead to set it apart from the car it replaces.

## Porsche Cayenne Electric, just landed

The [Porsche Cayenne Electric](https://www.drive.com.au/showrooms/porsche/cayenne/?utm%5Fsource=blankidentity) touched down in Australia on 21 September 2026, the first fully electric version of Porsche's best-selling SUV. Pricing runs from A$167,700 for the base model up to A$259,800 for the Cayenne Turbo Electric, with Coupé variants between A$173,500 and A$272,000\. The range tops out at 653km, the battery is a 113kWh pack, and the fastest variant hits 100km/h in 2.5 seconds. It can also charge from 10 to 80 per cent in 16 minutes on a 400kW DC charger, numbers that put it well ahead of the petrol Cayenne it sits alongside in showrooms rather than replaces.

## Toyota RAV4 PHEV, the plug-in version everyone's been waiting for

Toyota's [new-generation RAV4](https://www.drive.com.au/showrooms/toyota/rav4/?ref=blankidentity.com.au) has already pulled in more than 10,000 pre-orders on its hybrid variants, priced from A$45,990\. The plug-in hybrid models specifically, running A$58,840 to A$66,340, arrive in the third quarter of 2026 and are the versions worth waiting for if you can, built on a fifth-generation hybrid system with a 143kW combined output, Toyota's new Arene software platform, and a 705-litre boot. Toyota is targeting 40,000 local sales this year, a big number for a car that's only just getting its full lineup into the country.

## BYD Sealion 8, the brand's first seven-seater here

The [BYD Sealion 8](https://www.drive.com.au/showrooms/byd/sealion-8/?ref=blankidentity.com.au) is BYD's first seven-seat plug-in hybrid SUV for the Australian market, arriving across three variants from A$56,990 for the front-wheel-drive Dynamic through to A$70,990 for the Premium AWD. The entry variant pairs a 1.5-litre turbo engine with a 200kW electric motor for a combined 0-100km/h in 8.6 seconds, while the AWD versions add a second motor and drop that to 4.9 seconds. Premium trim brings a 21-speaker sound system, massage seats and 21-inch wheels, a genuinely loaded spec sheet for the price.

## Volkswagen Amarok W600, the ute with a Walkinshaw badge

The [Volkswagen Amarok V6 W600](https://www.drive.com.au/showrooms/volkswagen/amarok/?ref=blankidentity.com.au) is on sale now at A$91,990, Volkswagen's second collaboration with Walkinshaw's performance division. It runs a 3.0-litre turbo-diesel V6 making 184kW and 600Nm through a 10-speed automatic with permanent all-wheel drive, backed by retuned suspension, 20-inch custom alloys and Michelin Pilot Sport 4 SUV tyres. It tows 3,500kg and carries a 954kg payload, genuinely useful numbers, though reviewers have noted the diesel engine feels a touch underpowered for how capable the chassis itself clearly is.

**At a glance:**

- Ferrari Amalfi: from A$475,000, H2 2026
- Porsche Cayenne Electric: A$167,700-A$259,800, landed 21 September 2026
- Toyota RAV4 PHEV: A$58,840-A$66,340, Q3 2026
- BYD Sealion 8: A$56,990-A$70,990, now arriving
- Volkswagen Amarok W600: A$91,990, on sale now

**Verdict:** the Cayenne Electric and the RAV4 PHEV are the two that matter most to actual Australian buyers, real range and real efficiency gains on cars people already queue up for. The Amalfi is the one worth knowing about even if you'll never park one in your own driveway.
