# Canali opens its first Melbourne boutique on Collins Street

Italian tailoring house Canali has opened its first Melbourne boutique, at 411 Collins Street in the CBD. The store is run by Brisbane menswear retailer Mitchell Ogilvie and gives Victorian customers direct access to the brand's full range, including a dedicated made-to-measure room, for the first time.

## Inside the store

The boutique covers more than 160 square metres, with marble flooring throughout and six-metre ceilings on the retail floor. A separate made-to-measure VIP room, with three-metre ceilings, is set aside for tailoring appointments.

The full Canali offer is stocked, from bespoke and ready-to-wear tailoring and formalwear through to sportswear, outerwear and accessories. Canali's suits are hand-finished in Italy, and Boss Hunting, which toured the space before opening, reports the store opened its doors on 25 September 2026.

Canali produces its tailoring across five production centres in Italy, and the Melbourne store carries both the formal side of the business and the more casual lifestyle lines. Speaking to Boss Hunting, group commercial director Paolo Canali described the new boutique as "one of the most evocative outside of Milano HQ", a notable call for a store of this size.

## A Brisbane retailer goes south

The operator is a notable part of the story. Mitchell Ogilvie has been a luxury menswear retailer since 1981, with stores on Edward Street in the Brisbane CBD and James Street in Fortitude Valley, and stocks more than 40 international labels including Brioni, Brunello Cucinelli and Etro. According to Boss Hunting, the business has carried Canali for 45 years and funded the Melbourne fit-out, opening stock and local staff training. Ragtrader reports that the team makes buying trips to Milan twice a year to select each season's collections.

Canali president and CEO Stefano Canali said: "We are proud to bring to Melbourne the values that have defined Canali since 1934: Pursuit of excellence, Italian sartorial mastery and a contemporary expression of elegance rooted in our heritage."

Founder Mitchell Ogilvie said: "The city's appreciation for craftsmanship, understated luxury and enduring style aligns seamlessly with the brand, supported by a sophisticated retail landscape and discerning clientele."

## Why it matters

Ragtrader describes the opening as Canali expanding its Australian footprint into Victoria, and it gives Melbourne customers a standalone Canali address with in-house made-to-measure. The new store joins a global network of more than 190 Canali boutiques.
