The Nike Hybrid RN & Hybrid Fly are Nike's first real answer to HYROX-style training, and the two shoes are built for very different days. One is an everyday trainer for people who run and lift in the same session. The other is a carbon-plated race-day shoe that is planned for an April 2027 launch according to Nike.

Nike calls the range a footwear system for hybrid training and racing, meaning workouts that mix running with sleds, carries, lunges and heavy lifting. Most trainers handle one of those jobs well. The Hybrid line is designed to handle all of them without feeling like a compromise.

## Nike Hybrid RN: the everyday trainer

The [Nike Hybrid RN](https://www.nike.com/au/w/hybrid-training-8wvhh?ref=blankidentity.com.au) is the one you can buy. It pairs ReactX foam with a single Air Zoom unit under the forefoot, which gives a springy push-off without the squashy feel that makes heavy lifts wobbly. Under the foot sits a wide outsole with sticky rubber, and an X-shaped overlay on the upper works with the laces to hold your foot steady when you switch between exercises.

Nike lists a men's and a women's version in Australia, both at $230\. The [men's Hybrid RN](https://www.nike.com/au/t/hybrid-rn-mens-training-shoes-ikqSB96J/IV5066-101?ref=blankidentity.com.au) arrives in a white, black and Laser Crimson colourway with metallic silver detail.

The [women's Hybrid RN](https://www.nike.com/au/t/hybrid-rn-womens-training-shoes-UHAwwCgw/IO3815-102?ref=blankidentity.com.au) comes in its own colour range, shown here in white with Laser Crimson, Football Grey and metallic silver.

One practical note from Nike: the shoe runs small, so going half a size up is the recommendation.

## What the outsole is doing

Flip the Hybrid RN over and the design logic is easy to read. A dual-rubber outsole spreads grip across the whole foot, with an X-shaped pattern that links the forefoot and heel. That coverage matters on gym floors and turf, where you are pushing, pulling and changing direction rather than just running forward.

## Nike Hybrid Fly: the race-day shoe

The Hybrid Fly is the performance end of the range. It uses softer ZoomX foam, a full-length carbon Flyplate and two Air Zoom units in the forefoot, a recipe that echoes Nike's fastest road racers. The base is wider than a typical super shoe for stability during station work, with a four-zone traction pattern, sticky rubber and sidewall wraps. Race lockdown laces and a lightweight engineered mesh upper keep the foot secure.

Nike has set the Hybrid Fly for a global launch in April 2027, and it has not announced a price. Until it does, the sensible way to think about it is as a specialist tool for race day rather than something to wear to every class.

## How they differ, and who suits which

The RN is the shoe for the week: gym classes, mixed sessions, runners who also lift, and anyone training toward a HYROX event. The Fly is for the day it counts. The carbon plate and extra Air Zoom are about speed over the running legs, which is why Nike aims it at people racing rather than training.

If you are choosing now, the RN is the only option, and it is a good fit for most hybrid athletes. If you are planning a 2027 race and want every advantage, the Fly is worth watching, with the RN as the training partner in the meantime.
