Porsche has built a 911 GT3 for people who'd rather point it up a mountain pass than around a racetrack. The GT3 Bergsport is a 100-car market edition built by Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur, and it's dripping in Alpine hill-climb history.

Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur is the division responsible for the brand's most bespoke and limited-run cars, the team that handles one-off commissions and small-batch special editions that go well beyond what a standard options list allows. Putting the GT3 Bergsport through that division rather than treating it as a simple trim variant signals how seriously Porsche is taking the car's connection to hill-climb racing, a discipline the brand dominated through the 1960s and 70s with cars purpose-built for closed mountain roads rather than circuits.

## Built for Mountain Roads

It's based on the current 911 GT3 with the Touring Package, but the changes go beyond the paint. A manual six-speed gearbox is standard rather than optional, the Lightweight Package brings aluminium wheels in place of the usual magnesium items, and a 90-litre fuel tank stretches the car's range for long alpine touring days. A front-axle lift system and a rear seat option round out the practicality changes, and the brake calipers are finished in orange.

## Alpine Details Everywhere

The exclusive Valleygreenmetallic paint is meant to capture Alpine tones, paired with satin-finish White Gold and Ceramica aluminium wheels designed to echo snow-capped peaks. A chequered-flag motif on the front luggage lid nods to the 908 Bergspyder, one of Porsche's most successful hill-climb cars, and a ceramic-bordered "GT3 Bergsport" badge sits on the B-pillar. Even the engine cover gets its own emblem, depicting four Alpine summits and a serpentine mountain road.

The 908 Bergspyder referenced on the front lid was a stripped-out, purpose-built hill-climb variant of Porsche's 908 racer, weighing barely 545kg and campaigned through the European Hill Climb Championship, where it proved close to unbeatable in the right hands. Leaning on that specific car rather than a more familiar Porsche racing legend like the 917 is a pointed choice, aimed squarely at the collectors and historians who will actually understand the reference.

## Inside, Stitched With Mountains

The carbon-fibre bucket seats are trimmed in Valleygreen bespoke leather, with cross-stitched mountain-peak silhouettes worked into the doors and dashboard in alternating black and white thread. Orange embroidery spells out "GT3" on the headrests, and the same orange shows up on the start switch, accelerator, steering wheel marking and gear lever. A Sport Chrono Package brings a Porsche Design GT Clock to the dash, and the cabin runs a Bose surround sound system.

## 100 Cars, Four Countries

Only 100 examples will be built, sold exclusively in Austria, France, Italy and Switzerland. The car made its debut at the Arosa ClassicCar hill climb on 4 September 2026, with Porsche factory driver Jörg Bergmeister driving the reveal run up the 7.3km course and its 422 metres of elevation gain. Porsche hasn't disclosed pricing, but has confirmed a companion ski line, made with Austrian sports brand HEAD, for the 2027/28 season.

Restricting sales to those four Alpine-bordering countries is unusual even by Porsche's standards for limited editions, and it underlines that the Bergsport isn't meant to be a global collector's item so much as a car built for a very specific type of buyer: someone who actually intends to drive it on the roads the car is named after. The Arosa ClassicCar event itself has run for decades as a celebration of historic and modern hill-climb machinery through the Swiss resort town of Arosa, making it a fitting stage for the reveal.

**Verdict:** A limited-run car most of us will never see in person, but one of the more thoughtfully themed special editions Porsche has put out in years.
