- Description: The Shark Depuffi swaps the freezer gua sha for a device that goes from cold to warm in seconds. Here is how it works

Cold rollers and frozen gua sha have been the morning-puffiness fix for years, and now [Shark](https://www.spacenk.com/au/accessories/electronic/skincare-devices/depuffi-contrast-therapy-sculpting-tool---pink-MUK200067606.html?ref=blankidentity.com.au) wants a place in the routine. The Shark Depuffi is a hot and cold facial massager that goes from icy to warm in about 30 seconds, so there is no need to remember to chill anything the night before and it's already drawing good reviews from beauty editors.

## What the Shark Depuffi does

The Depuffi is a handheld, USB-C charged device with a curved, gua sha-inspired shape. It has two modes. InstaChill is for depuffing and contouring, and InstaHeat is for circulation and muscle relief. Between them there are six temperature levels, three cold and three hot. Shark says it was developed with dermatologists.

The technique is simple. Add a moisturiser or serum for slip, then glide the device slowly across the face, jawline and neck with light pressure. Use the cold setting in the morning, when puffiness is at its worst, and the heat in the evening to unwind. Each session lasts about eight minutes, and the device is designed for daily use.

## What one review found

Claims from the brand only go so far, so it helps to see what an independent tester reported. Reviewers of the Depuffi found [noticeably less under-eye puffiness within five minutes](https://www.bustle.com/beauty/shark-depuffi-review?ref=blankidentity.com.au) of using the coldest setting. The cold setting got as chilly as a frozen metal gua sha but felt gentler on the skin, and the cooling softened after a few minutes as the device vented warm air.

The same review said the move from cold to hot took closer to 10 seconds than Shark's 30, and that the warm setting was the surprise favourite for easing neck and shoulder tension. The downsides were that the results were subtle rather than dramatic, and that the battery needed charging about every other use.

## Who it suits

The Depuffi makes the most sense if you wake up puffy and already use a frozen gua sha or ice roller, because it does the same job without the freezer. The heat mode also makes it a handy neck and shoulder massager for people who sit at a desk all day. If you want a dramatic change in your face shape, a hand-held tool of this kind is unlikely to deliver it, however if your expectations are more realistic this might be the tool for you.

## Price in Australia

Space NK's Australian site lists the pink Shark Depuffi at A$340.00\. For comparison, Shark's own US site lists it at US$149.99, reduced from US$199.99, so expect to pay noticeably more here. We could not confirm that Shark sells it directly in Australia, nor the delivery terms or the Australian warranty. Shark's US page lists a two-year limited warranty, so check what applies locally before you buy.
