# WOMADelaide 2027 names first acts: Leon Bridges, Madness and Tinariwen

WOMADelaide has opened its 35th edition with three very different headliners. The Adelaide festival of music, arts, dance and ideas announced Leon Bridges, Madness and Tinariwen as its first artists for 2027 in mid-September 2026\. The festival runs from 5 to 8 March 2027 in Botanic Park/Tainmuntilla, and first release tickets are already on sale.

## The first three

**Leon Bridges (USA)** arrives with *Happiness Anytime*, his fifth studio album, released on 25 September 2026\. The Grammy-winning singer's new record draws on Jamaican dancehall, funk and Afrobeat, and was produced by J Lloyd and Lydia Kitto of Jungle. According to Tone Deaf, his new live set-up includes a DJ, a horn section and backing vocalists.

**Madness (UK)**, the British ska-pop band, will play WOMADelaide on Sunday 7 March, their first Adelaide show since the 1980s. The band is touring Australia and New Zealand in 2027, including a show on the Sydney Opera House Forecourt on 5 March, which Tone Deaf reports will be their first Australian show since 2017.

**Tinariwen**, the Grammy-winning Tuareg group formed in northern Mali in 1979 (WOMADelaide lists them as from Azawad), return more than two decades after their WOMADelaide debut in 2004\. The band is known for combining Tuareg musical traditions with electric guitar, percussion and desert blues.

## About the festival

Running since 1992, WOMADelaide describes itself as "an iconic open-air festival celebrating cultural discovery", with artists from more than 30 countries across eight stages. The festival has also locked in future dates: 10 to 13 March 2028 and 9 to 12 March 2029\. The full 2027 lineup will be announced in December 2026, with the timetable to follow in February 2027.

- **Four-day pass (first release):** A$469 adult, A$325 youth
- **Three-day pass:** A$438 adult, A$306 youth
- **Two-day pass:** A$340 adult, A$240 youth
- **One-day pass:** A$209 adult, A$162 youth
- **Friday night:** A$159 adult, A$120 youth
- **Children:** ages 3 to 12 are free when booked in the same order as an adult ticket (up to two per adult); under 3s do not need a ticket
- **Payment plans:** available on all ticket types bought before 30 November 2026, with a 10 per cent initial payment and all instalments finalised by 15 January 2027

Group pricing is also available. WOMADelaide has removed concession pricing, saying it did so to allow lower entry prices overall.
