Dior's SS27 Paris Show: Rihanna, Jennifer Lawrence and Anya Taylor-Joy Front and Centre

Dior SS27 Paris Fashion Week celebrity looks: how Rihanna, Jennifer Lawrence and Anya Taylor-Joy dressed for Jonathan Anderson's sheer, undone new season.

The Dior SS27 Paris Fashion Week celebrity looks lived up to the moment. When Jonathan Anderson sent his second ready-to-wear collection for the house down a runway built over a reflecting pond in the Jardin des Tuileries on 29 September 2026, the front row pulled almost as much focus as the clothes. Rihanna, Jennifer Lawrence and Anya Taylor-Joy all arrived in looks built for the cameras waiting outside the tent, three very different reads on the same sheer, undone season.

Paris Fashion Week's spring/summer 2027 season has been the biggest calendar moment of the northern autumn, and Dior's show, Anderson's second for the women's line since taking over the house, was one of its most watched. What played out on the runway, and just as much on the pavement outside it, says plenty about where the brand is headed next.

Rihanna's Gothic Glamour

Rihanna arrived already dressed for a different kind of spotlight: an all-black, thigh-high slit dress worn under a voluminous, textured wrap, finished with strappy stiletto heels, oval sunglasses and statement drop earrings. It was a sultry, gothic-leaning look set against Anderson's mostly pale, daytime palette, and it made her one of the most photographed guests outside the tent.

Jennifer Lawrence's Softer Register

A few seats along, Jennifer Lawrence went the other way entirely. She wore an icy baby-blue slip dress in silk brocade, trimmed with delicate white lace, thin straps and asymmetric ruching across an open back, a piece pulled from Dior's Cruise 2027 collection rather than the mainline show. She finished it with a mini Lady Dior bag, powder-blue mules and oversized black sunglasses. Lawrence has fronted the house's Miss Dior fragrance for years, and the romantic, quietly luxe styling fit that long-running relationship.

Anya Taylor-Joy's Office Siren

Anya Taylor-Joy, a Dior ambassador since 2021, leaned all the way into the collection's sheer, undone mood. She paired a knee-length black pencil skirt with a dramatically sheer, poncho-style lace top that draped almost to the ground, styled with a ruffled neckline, pointed pumps, slim silver sunglasses and a scarf knotted backwards at her neck. It read as office-siren dressing, prim tailoring undercut by transparency, and it mirrored the exact tension Anderson was chasing on the runway a few metres away.

The Collection: Anderson's Undone Elegance

Inside the show itself, Anderson sent out 65 looks across a runway laid over a reflecting pond, built around what several reviewers called a deliberately dishevelled elegance. Bras showed beneath open jackets, shirts were buttoned unevenly, and soft, slumped peplums replaced sculpted shapes, with sheer chiffon layered over structured skirts throughout. Guests were sent wenwan walnuts with their invitations, a nod to the natural asymmetry Anderson said shaped the season. Archive references surfaced too, including a strapless pink pleated tulle take on the house's 1952 La Cigale dress, alongside quieter luxury details like Murano glass buttons and faux fur tucked under lapels. Reception was warm but not uncomplicated: reviewers praised the craft while noting that Anderson's now-familiar signatures, the ballooning chiffon mini, the see-through tailoring, the single dangling earring, are becoming recognisable before the first model even appears.

Why This Front Row Matters

None of this happened by accident. Anderson's Dior, now overseeing both the men's and women's lines, has turned every show into an event, and a front row stacked with Rihanna, Jennifer Lawrence, Anya Taylor-Joy, Rosalia and Cynthia Erivo does real work for the house. It turns one runway collection into a style story that travels well past the fashion press, onto every red carpet and press tour these women have coming up. For a brand still finding its footing under a new creative director, that kind of reach, three women wearing three distinct interpretations of the same sheer, undone codes, is arguably as telling a signal as anything that actually walked the runway.

At a glance:

  • Show: Dior Spring/Summer 2027 ready-to-wear, Jardin des Tuileries, Paris, 29 September 2026
  • Designer: Jonathan Anderson, his second Dior womenswear collection
  • Rihanna: all-black thigh-high slit dress, textured wrap, statement drop earrings
  • Jennifer Lawrence: baby-blue silk brocade slip dress from Dior Cruise 2027, mini Lady Dior bag
  • Anya Taylor-Joy: sheer poncho-style lace top over a black pencil skirt

Verdict: Whatever you make of Anderson's sheer, undone direction for Dior, the SS27 front row did exactly what a front row is supposed to do. It turned a runway show into a three-way style conversation, one gothic, one romantic, one office-siren, and made Dior impossible to scroll past this week.
