Sydney's Activewear Boom: ALO and On Open New Flagship Stores
Premium fitness label ALO has opened in the Sydney CBD, while Swiss running brand On has landed in Bondi with a store inspired by the coastline.
Activewear has become everyday wear, and the global brands leading that shift are betting big on Sydney. Two of the most talked-about names in the category have just opened new stores in the city.
On: Westfield Bondi
Swiss running brand On has opened its second Australian location at Westfield Bondi Junction, a natural fit for a suburb famous for its runners and coastal walks. The 493-square-metre store takes its visual language from Bondi's coastline and running routes, with a restrained palette of sandy neutrals, muted greens and off-whites, broken up by aluminium accents and sculptural forms inspired by Sydney's rugged coast.
Inside, you will find On's footwear, apparel and accessories for running, training, tennis and everyday wear, plus limited drops from the brand's buzzy collaborations with Post Archive Faction, Sky High Farm Goods and Erewhon.
ALO: The Galeries, Sydney CBD
Los Angeles fitnesswear label ALO continues its Australian expansion with a new store at The Galeries in the Sydney CBD. The light-filled, expansive space stocks the brand's global best-sellers across men's and women's apparel and accessories. ALO has built a devoted following on the strength of its leggings, sets and celebrity fans, and a CBD location puts it right in front of the lunchtime crowd.
Why it matters
Both openings show how international brands see Australia: a small market, but one with a strong fitness culture and an appetite for premium activewear. For shoppers, it means seeing and trying these ranges in person rather than guessing sizes online.
