Suunto Run 2 is a 35g marathon watch with offline maps, from A$599
Suunto's new Run 2 weighs 35g, adds dual-band GPS, a brighter AMOLED screen and marathon-focused tools like Live Finish Prediction. It is on sale in Australia from A$599.
Suunto has a new running watch aimed squarely at road runners with a marathon on the calendar. Announced in Sydney on 8 September 2026 and on sale globally from 15 September, the Suunto Run 2 keeps the watch body to just 35g while adding dual-band GPS, worldwide offline maps and a suite of race-day tools. Australian pricing starts at A$599, and with the spring marathon season in full swing, the timing is sharp.
Light, slim and bright
The Run 2 is 11.7mm thick and uses a 1.32-inch AMOLED display rated at 2,000 nits, protected by Gorilla Glass and framed by a stainless steel bezel. It is water-resistant to 5 ATM. Suunto describes the 35g body as "light enough to forget and quick enough to read at a glance", which is exactly the brief for a watch you will wear for three or four hours on race day.
Under the hood is a redesigned 12-channel optical heart-rate sensor behind 2.5D curved glass, and dual-band GNSS tracking across the L1 and L5 signals of GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, BeiDou and QZSS. That matters most in cities, where tall buildings can throw off single-band GPS.
Built for marathon training
The standout software is Marathon Mode, which includes a Ghost Runner feature to pace against and race-focused screens designed to keep your targets visible from the start line to the finish. Live Finish Prediction shows a projected finishing time in real time based on your current pace.
Energy Sense is the other new tool. It shows your current effort relative to your remaining capacity, so you can decide mid-run whether to push on or back off before it is too late. Beyond racing, the Run 2 stores music and podcasts for playback through wireless headphones, and carries free worldwide offline maps, so you can leave the phone at home.
Battery and the new heart rate belt
Suunto quotes around 10 days of everyday use including training, or up to 24 hours of tracking in dual-band mode.
Alongside the watch, Suunto has released the Smart Heart Rate Belt 2. It uses ECG-based detection to clean up heart-rate data, and a six-axis motion sensor measures running form: cadence, ground contact time, vertical oscillation, flight time and balance. It can connect to three devices at once, has a 20-hour rolling memory and a quoted battery life of about 460 hours.
