Sonos Ace Ultra headphones and Beam Ultra soundbar land in Australia

Sonos has launched the Ace Ultra over-ear headphones and a 7.1.2 Dolby Atmos Beam Ultra soundbar, priced at A$699 and A$1,099, with shipping from 29 September 2026.

Sonos has given its headphones and its most popular soundbar a serious upgrade. Announced on 1 September 2026, the new Sonos Ace Ultra over-ear headphones and Beam Ultra soundbar are both on pre-order now in Australia, with general availability from 29 September 2026. The pair arrive alongside Sonos 27, a new version of the company's operating system, and signal a clear push to make the headphones a proper part of a Sonos home system rather than a Bluetooth afterthought.

Sonos Ace Ultra: built to join the system

The original Sonos Ace was a capable headphone that sat slightly apart from the rest of the Sonos range. The Ace Ultra is designed to fix that. It is the first headphone to use the company's new Headphone Engine 2 hardware, and Sonos says it can link directly with a Sonos system (initially as an Early Access feature). Paired with a compatible Sonos soundbar, it uses TrueCinema tuning to recreate a surround experience through the headphones.

Hardware-wise, the Ace Ultra uses a Sonos-designed 40mm driver and adaptive active noise cancellation powered by ten microphones. Battery life is rated at up to 35 hours with noise cancelling switched on, and a three-minute fast charge is quoted as good for three hours of listening. Wired listening is supported via USB-C and 3.5mm. Colours are Black, Soft White, Agave and Sand.

Beam Ultra: true 7.1.2 Dolby Atmos in a compact bar

The Beam has long been the sensible middle child in the Sonos soundbar line-up. The Beam Ultra moves it up a class. It packs nine custom drivers, including two up-firing drivers, to deliver true 7.1.2 Dolby Atmos. Sonos also points to stronger bass and a redesigned centre channel for clearer dialogue.

Four levels of AI Speech Enhancement are on board, alongside Night Sound for late-night viewing. Connectivity covers wi-fi, Bluetooth and HDMI eARC, and the bar can be expanded with a Sub and rear surrounds, including compatible Sonos portable speakers doubling as surrounds, a new trick enabled by Sonos 27. It comes in black or white.

What Sonos 27 adds

Both products lean on Sonos 27, the new generation of the company's audio operating system. Headline changes include AI control, new ways to move sound between rooms and devices, manual EQ settings and a redesigned, easier app.

Sonos chief executive Tom Conrad said the pair "combine next-gen innovation, acoustic design, and audio engineering into something only decades of learning in real homes can create."
